Just lost two decks, thanks!

Just lost two decks a week before my exam. Cheers guys :star_struck:

Have you tried restoring an automatically created backup?

You don’t say how you lost them (or why you think they are lost), so it’s hard to offer you much more than – Restoring an Automatic Backup (Recovering from Data Loss) - Anki FAQs .

I tried that

What can I do if I don’t know how I lost them. Was it one of the updates that did it?!

Maybe start with the basics by explaining

  1. what you did,
  2. when the issue first occured
  3. if you’ve got (manual) backups or are synced to ankiweb
  4. which version you were using before and to which one you upgraded
  5. ect.

There is a reason the forum greets you with this text when opening a topic:

Before posting, please do the following:

  1. Search these forums.
  2. Read Getting Help.
  3. Try the steps in Troubleshooting.
  4. Check the FAQs.
  5. Check the Platform Notes.

If your problem persists, please delete this text, and explain the problem you are having in as much detail as possible.

I understand it’s frustrating but just writing “Just lost two decks a week before my exam. Cheers guys” doesn’t help anyone and feels more like spam or at least like a troll post.

I’m sorry to all. I have followed the FAQ and backup instructions however I cannot find them. I will try again and follow your specific steps. A-Levels is holy crash out season but luckily Liverpool won the league.

Kind regards

It seems like there are lots of questions you could answer, like –

  • Where are you looking for them and not finding them?
  • Is it just the “decks” or is it the cards that were in them too? Have you checked that?
  • “I tried that” – What happened when you restored the backup? If they weren’t in the most recent one, did you try another one?

Generally – no, it wouldn’t be that. But this is the first mention you’ve made of any updates so we have no idea what updates you’re referring to!
