By default, Japanese characters show up as Chinese. It looks like the default font for the editor is Tahoma causing this. It would be useful to have a way to display them in the correct language (maybe with a better CJK default font) or be able to customize the default font for the editor.
You can adjust the font by clicking the Fields button.
You’re right, but you have to do it for each field. It seems not intuitive to have to do this for every field you happen to be typing in Japanese for in order to see the correct character.
The same character codes are used for multiple languages, so you need to tell the system which you expect. This can be done by selecting a font, and on some systems, which one is picked can depend on your system’s configured locale or language.
