tried to upload a screen recording, but it says new users cannot upload files. How can I share a video?
Hi all! Hoping to get some help with my Anki. I cannot open new windows from within Anki, for example by pressing “Add” or “Browse”. The tabs show up when I right click on the icon in the doc, but the windows don’t exist anywhere. Sometimes if I press “import file”, that window opens successfully and the other ones that I’ve previously tried to open will appear out of nowhere.
I also am having issues when I click the gear icon to rename decks etc. The dropdown doesn’t show up, but the buttons are there still if I click the empty space.
I’ve restarted Anki, restarted my laptop (Intel Mac), and moved Anki to trash and reinstalled. Is there something else I can do? I’m using AnkiHub, Image Occlusion Enhanced, Customize Keyboard Shortcuts, and Review Heatmap add-ons.
That sounds like a combination of windows that have wandered off your screen, and possibly a video driver issue. Try #7 on the Troubleshooting Checklist first – and then #6. Troubleshooting - Anki Manual
If it doesn’t get better, go to Help > About – click Copy Debug Info – and paste that here with your update.
Thanks for your reply! #7 and 6 did not help unfortunately, and I restarted between each as instructed. When I go into preferences, I actually can’t see any of the drop downs. I changed the drivers by clicking the empty space where I thought the other options might be.
It’s possible you didn’t quite get to all of them then. Try changing the driver from outside the app. Display Issues - Anki Manual
Even with such a short list of usually-stable add-ons, it’s worth it to try a safe mode start to see if they are part of the issue. See Troubleshooting #2.
Is there any chance you installed the wrong Anki version for your chip?
