iPad external keyboard issue with Japanese input (candidates selected by row)

Device: iPad air
iPadOS version: 18.4.1
AnkiMobile version: 25.09
Keyboard: AJAZZ AK992

Issue:
When typing Japanese with an external keyboard, predictive candidates are selected by row instead of one by one.
This only happens in AnkiMobile. Other apps (Safari, Notes) work normally.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Connect an external keyboard.
2. Switch to Japanese input (Romaji or Kana).
3. Type some text so predictive candidates appear.
4. Try selecting candidates: instead of selecting one candidate, a whole row is selected.

Expected behavior:
Only one candidate should be selected, as in other apps.

Notes:
This issue occurs consistently. Restarting the app or iPad does not fix it.
