Interest in splitting "Today" statistics between new and review cards

I am interested in implementing separate statistics for new and review cards for the “Today” section.

I have found the “again count/percent” statistic in the “Today” section of the “Statistics” window not as useful as it could be, because it is calculated from both new cards and cards scheduled for review that day. In my experience, just from checking the numbers about when I end reviewing cards, but before I do many new cards, the percentage ends up being much lower than the final percentage (as one might expect). Other “today” statistics like time/card spent, time spent, or cards studied would be useful to have split as well.

I am not 100% certain how the UI would look, but something like the separate buried/suspended cards checkbox in the card counts section seems appropriate, or just simply having two sections, depending on which statistics are split.

I apologize if this is in the wrong category, since in some sense it is a feature request. I thought this category would be appropriate because I am willing to implement the feature myself, and I would have already if it was possible to do so with an addon (well, it seems possible, but very fragile?). I am mostly looking to avoid going through the trouble of implementing the feature, only to have a PR rejected on the basis of being a feature that is not desirable to merge into Anki in the first place.

You can view the statistics for new cards studied today by searching for introduced:1 (see the manual). You can use -introduced:1 to see the review cards only.

If you thing this is too cumbersome, there was a suggestion here that the search in the stats screen should be preserved, so you might want to give it a “heart”.
