"Increase today's new card limit" seems useless with subdeck

My issue seems similar to "Increase today's new card limit" does not affect subdeck - #2 by Danika_Dakika but as the theread is closed I can’t answer there

My setting is as follow deck A with many subdecks d1 d2,.. dn.
I have a limit of 1 new card /day per subdeck and 9999 cards for the parent deck. This allow me to learn a card/day for each subdeck, in order to learn a little bit of everything without having to manually switch decks.

As far as I recall, I could use “custom study>Increase today’s new card limit” and enter 1 to have one new card by sudeck. I loved this feature for the day I’ve extra time and am done with my reviews.

As far as I understand, this disappeared with Sched 3.

If I understand correctly what @Danika_Dakika answered on the other thread, I could use deck option’s “today only” on the parent deck so that it increase the number. But it seems it does not work. The limit on extra card don’t have any impact on the subdecks.

So I’ve a request and a remark.

This should be changed.

Either when you press okay it should also change the limit in the subdeck. Or it should indicates that actually there are 0 cards visible in subdecks due to subdeck limit. Because the way it currently works, it seems that the 2 cards can be reviewed, and actually it can’t unless I manually go in each subdeck to add an extra review.

Also, I’d really love to have a way to add one new card per subdeck.
In Anki I can of course use an add-on, but that would not solve the issue for mobile

If I understood correctly, the only reason you set the new card limit for subdecks to 1 is to simulate some type of round-robin subdeck new card gather order?

The ‘today’ limits in the deck options are intended to replace these two once our deck browser offers the user better insights into limits with something like a tooltip-on-hover. I don’t think it’s worth trying to fix the old implementation at this stage.
