I tried importing a file earlier just like how I do it every other time, the total cards increase but the deck doesnt show up anywhere. I have tried restaring the app, and laptop. I made sure it was a cvs utf 8 file. I also made sure the desktop app was up to date. I tried making a separate deck to add it directly. From reading other posts, I have also tried disabling the add-ons as I started the app. Did Run Tools > Check Database (after seeing a similar post) but it still did not work. What do i do? Any suggestion will be helpful!!
Since the cards were actually created, I suspect they are just in a different deck than you expect.
In Browse, try searching for added:1 – or if you added a lot of notes today, try searching up some of the text in these ones. If you display the “Deck” column, you can see where they are.
After importing the CSV, when you get to the post-import report, click “Show” to see the notes/cards that were added, and check the “Deck” column.
Thank you for the responses! I tried doing both of what you suggested, and I noticed that it did not go to the specific deck I set it to. I also noticed that it was separated into three different decks for some reason. And since I tried to import the same info multiple times (through different files), the number of all cards doubled.
What can I do for it to stop importing to random decks? And how do I delete all the (doubled) cards that I have been trying to import? I would also like to note that these 2 problems have only happened to me yesterday after using Anki for a few months now.
Does the file you are importing have something like a #deck specification at the top when you view it in a text editor?
(although that setting is not supposed to overwrite anything you specify in the import dialog, but only to set the respective option as the default)
The easiest way would probably be to sort them by creation time in the browser and delete all the redundant ones starting from the first duplicate note.
You can also search for duplicates using the dedicated function: Browsing - Anki Manual. If you have this add-on installed, it will offer you to merge automatically all detected duplicates afterwards.
That sounds like your note type has a Deck Override that send the created cards to different decks. If you disable that, then the cards will stay together and go to the deck you choose.
Click each card type to see which have that “on” and blank out the name of the override deck.
