But I can import this last column only into TAG not into a deck structure. Is there a way - with or without add-on - to do this?

Best regards,

Hendrik

You can use File Headers to designate that column as a “deck column” – Text Files - Anki Manual . Although that seems like something that would be much more appropriate as a tag – Adding/Editing - Anki Manual .

Thanks, that helped a lot.

Filtering by tag is a bit… well not so user-friendly, syntax-wise (not sure who can remember (Tag:Seite_194) or (Tag:Seite_195)). Also, when I upload this Set the user may not know that he can filter by the tags.

Not sure what the disadvantages would be to put it into the decks.

In addition to what is explained at the link – every deck needs to be assigned to use an Options preset. The more subdecks you have, the more that can go wrong by inadvertently using the wrong preset.

I’m not sure I see much difference syntax-wise between them.
(Tag:Seite_194) or (Tag:Seite_195)

(Deck:Seite_194) or (Deck:Seite_195)

That’s true, but in case of a Deck, I can just click the Deck that I want:

The Tree would just go one level further (to page/seite)

With tags, you can view such a tree in the Browse window. E.g. these are a few of my hierarchical tags:

You can click on any of them to search for them; the user doesn’t have to manually type that in.

My son now has to study page 193 through 203.. That is quite unhandy with that syntax

Looks suitable/useful. Does that exist also in AnkiDroid?

By the way: How do you get hierachical Tags? Also with “ :: “ So Depression::Diagnosekriterien::ICD-10?

Best regards,

Hendrik

Yes, exactly like that.

Yes. You can find it if you go to the browser, then the three dots in the top right corner, then Filter by Tags. You can select the tags by toggling checkbox.

Ah, great. We are getting there.

But if I - in Browser - filter by Tag. How can I now practice the selected (only)?

You can use this:

Filtered decks offer a lot of possibilities. They can be used for […] studying particular tags […].

I know, that’s where we are coming from.

But entering (Tag:Seite_194) or (Tag:Seite_195) or (Tag:Seite_196) or (Tag:Seite_197) or (Tag:Seite_198) or (Tag:Seite_199) on a mobile is inconvenient - to say the least.

So, I need something where I can create a filtered deck by clicking only.

You guided me to a point where I can select the cards by clicking (Thanks!) but I have no Idea how to create a filtered deck from it.

Mine looks a bit different than yours. Maybe you opened something else than I did, though. Here are my steps:

  1. Open AnkiDroid.
  2. Open the side bar (Top left corner).
  3. Press Card Browser.
  4. In the top right corner, press the three dots.
  5. Choose Filter by tag.
  6. Select the tags via checkboxes and press Select in the bottom right corner.
  7. You can now see the search terms used in the text field at the very top (somewhat next to the three dots).
  8. Press the three dots at the top right corner.
  9. At the very bottom of that list, press Create Filtered Deck….
  10. Choose Name for filtered deck and press Ok.
  11. In the setup menu, you can see the tags that you filtered in the Search area (above Limit To).

If you do not have this option, maybe try to update your AnkiDroid app. But I think you opened another menu than I did; I know german and I do not have those options in my menu.

I am using AnkiDroid 2.22.3, built Aug 5, 2025 (based on anki 25.07.5 / 7172b2d2) which I installed from F-Droid.

Wait, actually: I know this menu. You probably long pressed on an entry to get this view. If you want to filter not only by tags but choose specific cards from these tags as well, then I don’t really know how to do that.

Well… you could flag those cards and then filter based on flags. But I don’t know if you can easily filter based on card ids here
