I can't create a new deck in the desktop app or browser

I just created my account and downloaded the most recent version of the desktop app for Mac (Version ⁨25.07.5 (7172b2d2)⁩, Python 3.13.5 Qt 6.9.1 Chromium 122). From the start I’ve never been able to create a new deck. The button responds with the prompt to name the new deck (the field is auto field with the name of the sole deck I have), but after hitting ok there’s no response. This same experience is repeated in the browser as well.

I’ve been through all the troubleshooting steps found in the Support > Troubleshooting page.

Try running ToolsCheck Database

That was one of the suggestions in the Troubleshooting page and I’ve done that. I just did it again to see if it had any better results but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to resolve anything as I still can’t create a new deck.

You renamed the ‘Default’ deck to ‘Russian’, and then are trying to add a new deck called ‘Russian’. You can use the debug console to fix this quickly:

d= mw.col.decks.get(1)
d['name'] = "Default"
mw.col.decks.save(d)

After running it, you should be able to add a deck with that name.

Thank you! That seemed to resolve my issue. I don’t completely understand what I did. I guess I renamed the default deck like you say, but I first named it Scripture and then tried to add a deck called Russian. Somewhere that caused an issue. In trying to understand what was happening I renamed Scripture to Russian and then reversed that a few times. Every time I hit Create Deck from the beginning however there was no response.
