How to Study All New Cards in a Deck Without Repeats?

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble configuring Anki to learn all the new cards in my deck without repeating over and over again until i press “easy”. Currently, I have 501 new cards, but as I study them, Anki keeps showing me the cards I’ve already reviewed. I understand this happens when clicking the “Again” button, but I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the settings to achieve the following:

I want all cards to appear in order, starting from 1 up to 501. After I’ve worked through all 501 cards, I want to categorize them into four categories: “Bad,” “Mid,” “Good,” and “Easy.” Afterward, I’d like to manually filter out the “Good” and “Easy” cards, so I can focus on studying the “Bad” and “Mid” cards.

Is there any way to change the Anki settings to make this workflow possible?

Thanks in advance for your help!

There are a few ways to approach this. The easiest seems to be to use the existing grading buttons Again, Hard, Good, Easy for your 4 categories, and set up your learning steps (maybe not permanently, but at least for this process) so that you won’t see any of the cards again soon. Then you’ll be able to easily sort (flag? change deck?) the cards into those 4 categories based on what grade you gave them.

It will help to know – are you doing to go through all 501 in one day?

Anki’s purpose is to help you remember, not to help you to learn. You should learn the material first, and then use Anki to help you to remember them.

Showing the cards to you again is part of the way that Anki works to embed the card’s content in your memory.
