I am studying vocabulary words and I want to show some special information/layout for new cards only. Currently, I have the definition on top and some background info below. When introducing new cards, however, I want to show the field with some background info on top, as well as a link for more info/reading so that I can familiarize myself with the word before memorizing the definition.
I only want to see this layout when the card is new, and I want the regular layout to be displayed for all subsequent reviews.
Does anyone have any suggestions or know how to achieve this in Anki?

I don’t think there is a simple way to change the layout according to whether the card is new or not (You can possibly write an add-on for that, though).
If the data you want to display is stored in the notes, maybe a hint field is good enough.
