How do I update my Anki application on my MacBook without losing all my cards?

Hello,

I am having some issues with my Anki app on my laptop and I was hoping someone could help me since I have no knowledge of this type of application.

When I opened my Anki application it said a new updated version was available, so I clicked on the button to update the application now but it said there is no solution.

I am very new to coding and I do not know much about Anki so I have no idea how to update it and fix my app so that I may keep using the cards that I have downloaded and have personally made.

I have a MacBook Air and about 4000-5000 cards on there, which includes ones that I’ve downloaded and ones that I’ve made.

I have attached screenshots of the “terminal” that opened when I open my Anki app. Please help me resolve this issue. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

You can work around the issue by downloading the release from https://apps.ankiweb.net/ and replacing your existing installation.

Your collection is stored in a different location than where the program is installed, so you won’t lose your collection when you upgrade/downgrade. Managing Files - Anki Manual
