Problems with updating ANKI using the Terminal launcher

Hello,

I tried to update ANKI, but I feel I am stuck in a loop - the latest update is given as an option, but when I choose it it says it’s not available (see screenshot). I would like to avoid deleting ANKI since this can delete my setup (installed add-ons, etc).

I do have access to the internet while updating; I do not know if I changed anything related to Python, I am not well-versed in the back-end of anything computer-related

Can you help?

I cannot even open ANKI now, when I try to open it it opens the Terminal dialog window (so I cannot use any ANKI options such as Tools). I installed my latest ANKI using the launcher, so I’m not sure why it would link to 26.05…?

How can I now get my ANKI working, then? I essentially don’t need to upgrade, I did because ANKI showed the dialog window with this offer…

Just download the latest version directly from this link and it’ll replace your existing installation: Release 26.08.1 · ankitects/anki · GitHub

OK, I was afraid it will wipe my app contents. But I did the new install and it works  Thank you so much both!

Im clicking the link, but idk what to do next? I need help

The “Assets” list at the bottom contains 6 links to installers for each individual OS and CPU. Find the one for your system and click to download.
