First time with custom note types - what am I doing wrong?

I’m trying to make my first custom note type.
This is a new anki user, so there’s no previous customisations messing anything up. This is a card for the Latin word for rose.
So, first I copied the default ‘Basic (and reversed card)’ note type. Then I deleted the default fields and added these: “latin”, “gender”, “photo”, “english”.
I want the cards to look like this:

Basically, the Latin noun and it’s gender on the front. A photo, and for some words a short caption on the back. And a reversed card.
However, the reversed card has the latin word still on the front, and the back is blank.

I can’t work out what I’m doing wrong.

Screenshots of the card templates. I haven’t changed the styling.

I’d really appreciate some help.
Thanks.

(I would give a .apkg file, but I’m not allowed to include links in this post.)

Hi! Try this maybe: click on the bar next to Card Type (see the attached screenshot), select Card 2, then edit the Front/Back templates according to your needs.

Consider starting your back templates with the {{FrontSide}} special field instead of repeating the fields. It will save you time if you ever want to edit anything.

{{FrontSide}}
