File path length causing files to not sync?

I’ve been using Anki Desktop to sync my collection reliably as I create new cards for a while, but today I noticed that some of my new cards’ images did not sync to AnkiDroid, while others did.

I checked on AnkiWeb and found that the cards did not display the images on the web either, so I concluded that the images simply did not sync to Anki, while the audio and some other images did. One example image is <img src="ノラと皇女と野良猫ハート_ノラと皇女と野良猫ハート_TVアニメ化記念特装版1.01_2021-12-09_16-48-58.jpg"> (all the failed images are named like this with different timestamps) so I thought the file path might be the issue preventing these files from syncing. Is there a solution to this problem other than changing my file names? Is it a bug that needs to be reported?

I am running Anki Desktop Version ⁨2.1.44 (b2b3275f)⁩ and will upgrade if this is a known issue that was resolved in an update, though I’m reluctant otherwise because of addon compatibility. I’m capable of bulk renaming and replacing the names in Anki but I’d rather not because it’s a pain.

If you have manually added files to the media folder and they’re not in the format Anki expects, Tools>Check Media should rename them for you.

Thanks for the response! This worked, though it does trim part of the file name which is not optimal.
