My AnkiDroid can’t sync and the following error pops up: Syncing failed because your email address needs to be (re)confirmed. Please visit ankiweb.net and in as “my email” to proceed.
I visited ankiweb and there was nothing to confirm, I just logged into my account as usual. AnkiDesktop and AnkiWeb are in sync, here everything is okay, the problem is with AnkiDroid.
I browsed through some topics on anki forums and there were a couple of posts about it but in majority it seemed like there was a problem with receiving a confirmation letter. I don’t know what to do in my situation.
P.S. I specifically created an account here to write about this issue with the same email address and I received the confirmation letter for Anki forums, so there is no problem with my email, I guess
That makes it easier for me to check. Thanks!
I can see that AnkiWeb account, and it isn’t due for email verification. Your account synced with desktop Anki today, but it has no history of syncing with AnkiDroid (even the failed sync would show up in the support interface. I suspect your AnkiDroid install is using a different AnkiWeb account.
Compare Preferences > Syncing on desktop with Settings > Sync in AnkiDroid. Make sure they are the same email address.
When you figure out which one you aren’t going to be using, you should delete that account on its account settings page so you don’t have this confusion again in the future.
I’ve checked on desktop and on AnkiDroid and they have the same email address.
Are you sure? I see 2 different AnkiWeb accounts syncing from your IP address recently –
- One has gotten connections only from desktop Anki today.
- The other has gotten connections from AnkiDroid today (and hasn’t synced with desktop Anki in several weeks). This one isn’t verified, so syncing would fail.
The email addresses on those accounts are similar, but have a different bit in the middle.

Yes, you are right. I haven’t noticed the change in the middle, thank you for pointing out.
I’ve just synced on AnkiDroid and everything works. Again, thank you for you help.
Great! Don’t forget to clean up that unnecessary account.
