Drastically reduced flashcard interval due to paused learning

Hello,

I am experiencing a strange issue with my Spanish deck and I would appreciate some help.

The Problem: For the past few days, all my flashcards in this specific deck show a maximum interval of 2 days (2d) for the “Easy” button. This happens even for cards that should have intervals of several months or even years.

Context:

  • I haven’t studied this “Spanish” deck for several months. I just recently started revising it again.

  • The issue only affects this deck. My other decks, which I have been studying regularly without long interruptions, are working perfectly fine.

What I’ve noticed: No matter how well I know the card, the “Easy” button never goes beyond 2 days.

Is there a specific setting or a “Maximum Interval” limit that might have been triggered because of the long break or a wrong configuration?

Thank you in advance for your help!

There is an option for the maximum interval at the bottom of the deck options. You probably changed that by mistake…

Many thanks for your note. I have not changed anything. I just did not have the time to revise my Spanish flashcards since February 2026 and now it seems the intervals for all cards has been minimised to 2 days (max) when I answer “Easy”. I attach the configuration for the Spanish deck for reference. I would be grateful if I could find the right setting to continue revising as before.

  • I don’t know much about SM-2, but there’s a setting called the “Easy interval”. This should affect your red learning cards. It’s probably set to 2 and you have lots of red cards coming up first because they’re top priority, so you thought it’s all the cards.
  • It looks like you’re using an old version of Anki. If you can, consider updating.
  • You should enable FSRS, which is a better algorithm.
