I want to use command m on mac to minimise the browser window but it didnt work. It works on the main menu though. What should I do to fix this?
I am able to reproduce the behavior. The Command-M keyboard shortcut does nothing when the Browse window is in front, on the Mac desktop Anki app. I was using Anki version 26.05.
I’m not sure whether it might be possible to use third-party utilities (something like BetterTouchTool) to work around the issue.
I note that there are a number of other situations where Anki app window behavior is strange (when compared to other Mac apps). For example, the Anki > Preferences and Anki > About Anki… items appear in the menu only when the main Anki window is in front. They don’t appear when other windows are in front, for example the Browse window.
That doesn’t sound that unexpected, given the different status of the windows within the app – i.e. the Browse window depends on the main window, but can be used alongside the main window. Other windows that have a similar status are Add Note and Stats – I wonder if they behave the same?
I also wonder what Option-Command-M does with those windows:
Command-M: Minimize the front window to the Dock. To minimize all windows of the front app, press Option-Command-M.

[To be clear, I’m not suggesting the current behavior is “expected behavior” in the “it’s not a bug” sense. I don’t really know how windows like Anki’s should behave in macOS.]
