Card Progress Not Saving on Some Cards

Hey guys,

I am having a problem with my cards not syncing. I’m not sure, but there’s this one specific tag on a Membrane lesson that takes me like 3 hours to do, and every time I re-open Anki the next day, it marks all of those cards under that tag as ‘New’ as if I’d never done it. Funnier enough, when I look at my Review Heatmap add-on (which I’ve had for a while and isn’t the problem, but it is able to list the cards I did yesterday), it lists those cards as cards I reviewed. So Review Heatmap is able to tell I did those cards, but Anki is processing it as if I’ve never done those cards before. It’s super frustrating cause i’ve had to re-do hundreds of them twice now. Anyone had this issue?

My laptop is running the newest Q6 version of Anki and my PC is running the other version Q5. I do most of my Anki on my PC but I’m having my issues on both. I have uninstalled and redownloaded both Anki’s. Any ideas would be welcome!

Can you please show us the information panel of one affected card?

@ferophila Absolutely

I hope this image uploads properly. Please let me know if you have any ideas (or can’t see the image)

  1. Have you made changes to your learning steps in the last couple days?

  2. Do you sync multiple devices with AnkiWeb? Are you strict about making sure you sync when you open the app AND when you close/leave the app, on every device, every time?

@Danika_Dakika I have made changes to my learning steps, but Anki has worked fine since then to my knowledge. I changed it from 15m 3h 1d to 25m 1d.

I do sync multiple devices but I sync every time I open and close. Plus, I use the PC version on the device that im struggling with, which automatically syncs upon opening and closing.

I’m going to do the cards again today and see if it syncs properly this time.

Changing your learning steps while you have cards in Learn can cause cards to skip or repeat steps. This usually fixes itself after studying the card a couple more times, and it won’t cause any long term damage.
