Cant install Anki / Launcher shows error code

Hi Everyone,

I have been using Anki for a year now without any complaints. Now this problem turned up and I cant solve it, even using ChatGPT and Claude.

I think I caused it by cancelling an update in may, but I am not really shure.

Trying to install Anki through the Anki Launcher (I have tried four different versions), it shows me the following error:

I dont really understand this, given Im neither a nativ english speaker nor good at informatics.

I have tried to uninstall all remains of previous Anki versions, deleting folders like

“C:\Users\PC0002\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki” and

“C:\Users\PC0002\AppData\Local\AnkiProgramFiles”and

“C:\Users\PC0002\AppData\Roaming\uv”

but the problem code kept accuring.

Oh and the PC is mine, its not from an institution despite the name despite the name hinting at it (says the AI).

I really hope somebody can help me, I use Anki to study and rely on it heavily.

Have you tried this latest one?

Look at the bottom for “anki-26.05b1-win-x64.msi” if you have a regular Windows 10 or 11 computer.

I tried this, but after authorising the installation my PC said that this installation pack would not be supported on this Platform.

Make sure to pick the correct file for your computer architecture, either anki-26.05b1-win-x64.msi (much more common) or anki-26.05b1-win-arm64.msi.

There’s a newer beta that I recommend to try instead, especially if you’re on ARM: Release 26.05b2 · ankitects/anki · GitHub
