Can't copy/upload in Ankiweb images/screenshots from my desktop to the front and back sections when adding new flashcards to a deck, instead it opens a new browser window with the image .png

Hello,

I don’t have any trouble uploading new flashcards through the app installed in my personal computer, but when I am in a different computer (work), I need to access through AnkiWeb to study my flashcards. When adding new flashcards through AnkiWeb, I can’t add new ones in the front - back sections when adding flashcards to an existing deck. Neither if I copy the image or drag it down to the browser it won’t work (when I drag the image down to the front - back section it opens it in a new browser window). Image format is .png

Someone recently commented that they can’t attach an image when they are adding a note in AnkiWeb, but it works when they are editing a note. I don’t know why those processes are different, but perhaps that’s a workaround for you?

Adding images via ankiweb

Hi, when I edit existing card via ankiweb it is possible to add an image to card without problem, but when I try same way to add an image to new card I get message that says adding images is not supported through ankiweb. I don’t know how to code, but I think that since it works when card is edited, it should be easy to make it work when card is created [Zrzut ekranu 2025-02-24 142609]

But I think to get that to work, you’ll have to grab the image directly, not the file of the image. When you’re talking about dragging something into the browser window, you’re interacting with the file. Compare that to when you capture a screenshot, or you are viewing an image and copy it – then you’ve grabbed the image itself. I’m not sure there’s a way around that distinction.
