Anki won't let me copy images from web to the picture box

Anki won’t let me copy and paste images into the picture box and nor sound files in the pronunciation box. I had no problems with this in the past.

Try updating Anki.

Also try safe mode (and everything else from this list).

Please close Anki, then open it in safe mode by holding down the Shift key while starting Anki. Keep holding Shift down until the on-screen message informs you that Anki has started in safe mode

I’ve reinstalled the app. No joy. The error message says something to the effect of ankiuserdotnet says: Sorry images can not be added via AnkiWeb please use a computer or a mobile version.

all my other cards haven’t had this problem

That’s the “AnkiWeb” website version [https://ankiweb.net/decks and https://ankiuser.net/], and as that message says – you can’t do that there. You need to add your media in your desktop install of Anki or one of the mobile apps [AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid].
