I use Anki for the Irish language which uses the fada (accent) above vowels. I cannot search for words that have á (a-fada) in browse. It simply won’t type in when I put in the character using Windows alternate keyboard (GLE type right alt a). I cannot search for a word like lán which means full. I can enter the words fine on cards, just cannot search. All other Irish fada vowels work fine é,í,ó,ú in browse just not á.
Thanks,
John
this add-on might help you
I have similar problems however not directly with searching but with editing notes. It there any way to write alt+a?
i don’t really have much experience with accents.
but i think you can use these shortcuts. (don’t know if there is a better way of doing it tho)
á = Alt + 0225
é = Alt + 0233
í = Alt + 0237
ó = Alt + 0243
ú = Alt + 0250
Perhaps it’s the issue that the following add-on works around?
apparently you don’t need to use an add-on to ignore accents in anki 2.1.24+
https://docs.ankiweb.net/#/searching?id=ignoring-accentscombining-characters
Requires Anki 2.1.24+ or AnkiMobile 2.0.60+.
You can use
nc:
to remove combining characters (“no combining”). For example:
nc:uber
matches notes with “uber”, “über”, “Über” and so on.
nc:は
matches “は”, “ば”, and “ぱ”Searches that ignore combining characters are slower than regular searches.
