I need to be able to see the buried cards and be confident that they will eventually show
Do you have learning/review cards that are shown first and might bury the new cards again?
Try this: set the review limit to 0 and enable “new cards ignore review limit”.
There’s no AnkiWeb account that matches the address you used to post here, so I can’t look at your collection directly. If you sync with AnkiWeb, you should add that address to your account here in the Forums as an alternate/seconday.
That 1+75 means that there are 76 cards available right now, but 75 of them are anticipated to be buried after other scheduled cards are studied.
You studied more cards, which buried more cards. Why do you think this is something other than the other 75 cards being buried once you studied their siblings?
You can search for the currently buried cards – is:buried. There’s no reason to think a buried card won’t be unburied when the day rolls over.
I added the correct email.
When I look at the cards that are new it does not say they are buried and it says they should be due today. Furthermore, I have it set so I see new cards before learning/review ones so shouldn’t they bury the learning/review ones, not vice versa? Also it has now been 3 days of these same cards being buried. I thought they were supposed to unbury the day after I saw the sibling cards
If they are New, they don’t have due dates, so they wouldn’t say that. But even the cards you think are “up” for today won’t show as buried until they are actually buried – when you study their sibling card.
That’s not quite how it works. It isn’t a “whichever card gets to the study screen first” race. Cards that are anticipated to be buried based on your settings aren’t pulled into the study queue (that’s what the “+” number represents). Your already-active and due cards will always be a priority over cards that haven’t been introduced yet – Deck Options - Anki Manual .
I can see your collection now. I don’t know exactly which deck/subdeck you’re asking about – but, for instance, you’ve got 400+ cards in Learn/Relearn under the “Lecture” parent-deck, so there’s especially no purpose in introducing more New cards there. They will immediately become Learn cards and get stuck in that queue.
One of your primary goals should be to graduate your Learn/Relearn cards to Review every day, so you won’t start the day with very many (or any) leftovers in that column. Then your study-queue of New cards will be assembled from the available cards that won’t conflict with your due/overdue Review cards, since those need to be studied today, and won’t need to defer to the 400 leftover Learn/Relearn cards.
