I use the scratchpad to write out answers on my phone but would love a typing equivalent for my laptop. I understand that there is a note type which allows answers to be typed in but I don’t really want to do a wholesale change given that I review on two devices and I like typing on my laptop but not on my phone.
Is there any way I could both (1.) preserve the scratchpad functionality (or even just not be forced to type) for my phone use AND (2.) be able to type answers for my laptop.
My only idea is that I just mass change note type between devices but I feel that would be quite messy…
Thank you in advance for any support!
(Apologies for the newbie question)
Can you do both in a type-in note type? That is, not use the type-in feature while on phone but use it while on your computer/laptop. Type-in cards don’t force you to type in a answer to proceed. On your phone, you can not type and still answer your questions. I don’t use iOS but I suspect scratchpad isn’t that different from AnkiDroid’s whiteboard feature. It works regardless of the note type.
If you want to switch to using a type-answer field on your laptop, you can edit that into your card templates. But then you can hide that on in AnkiMobile with “Never Type Answer” enabled.
