Hi,
I wanted to link my AnkiWeb account to the desktop version this morning. My boyfriend was still logged in with his AnkiWeb account on the desktop version. When I tried to link it, the desktop version told me that I either had to upload to AnkiWeb or download from AnkiWeb. I clicked on Upload. Then my data on AnkiWeb was overwritten with that of my boyfriend, so that I only see my boyfriend’s flashcards on my AnkiWeb account.
Is there a way to go back to the latest backup and restore my files?
I have checked the Anki forums and have come across to @dae. I would be very grateful if you @dae could help me?
The best place to find the most recent version of your collection is on the last device you used Anki on. That’s either on that desktop computer, but in your actual profile (the profile/collection you were trying to upload to AnkiWeb) or on any other device that has the most recent changes.
Is there some reason you don’t have access to that?
I’ve been using AnkiWeb without synchronising to my phone for many months now. So the phone backup misses a huge number of my cards and progress. That is also why I’m reaching out for the AnkiWeb backup restoration.
Ah, I understand. The most recent server backup copy is from 7 April. Please confirm if you want me to restore that.
If you want to start syncing that desktop install to your AnkiWeb, make sure you create a separate profile for yourself, so that you don’t run into this conflict with your boyfriend’s collection again.
I hereby confirm that you may restore this.
Thank you very much!
That’s restored. Make sure you choose download from AnkiWeb when you set up syncing.
Because you synced another collection there, you should also run Check Media from one of the apps to get rid of any unused media that you uploaded with that collection.
