Audio file not working

  • You asked for directions, and I gave you that – did you try it?
  • I can’t tell you what went wrong with what you tried unless you show me those templates. It’s not worth either of our time for me to guess.

Hello,

I’m sorry to bother you again but even after reading through the relevant instructions, including your previous messages I am still unable to modify the basic card type the way I want. It’s like hieroglyphics to me. Instead of having the field for the images on the front, with text and audio on the back I’ve either ended up having no image and the audio on the front or different combinations. I’m sure you have better things to do than help me but I really would appreciate your guidance. Would it be possible to give me step by step instructions from the beginning on how to add a field for audio files to the back of a basic card?

I am willing to help you, but I gave you step-by-step instructions when you asked, and you’re quoting back to me from an earlier post where I gave you generic instructions.

Did you follow these instructions?

If so, this is still the case:

I need to see the front and back templates that aren’t working for you. If they are written with the exact text I gave you (and the information you gave me about your note type was correct), then they should work.

And I need to see the preview of the what the card will look like, so you can describe to me what is wrong.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is this what you mean by the template?

The part on the left – where it says Template at the top – is the template. That is where you tell Anki what to show you on your cards.

On the right – where it says Preview at the top – is the preview of what the card will look like.

Then below those headings, you can see the radio buttons that allow you to switch between Front, Back, Styling.

I have made some progress. I managed to make a card with the image on the front and the answer and audio file on the back. The only thing is the “back” is to the right of the front instead of the usual way with the front being above the back and separated by a line.

I suppose this doesn’t really matter. I’m just curious how I managed to do this. Thanks again for your time!

I think I’ll be ok now.

Thanks again.
