Anki synch issue

Hello

A few years ago, I set up ankimobile on my iPad and synched it with Ankiweb. I did so with help from this forum (the forum rules are preventing me from adding a link to this prior discussion).

After finally managing to synch ankiweb with anki on my iPad, years later I noticed that much of the media on ankiweb (eg recordings and images) had not fully copied across to anki on my ipad. Where such media is missing I get the below “missing file” notification. Notably, no cards/notes seem to be missing - only recordings and images.

Does anyone know if there’s any way I can belatedly copy over these missing recordings/images, bearing in mind I have made changes to my anki decks since setting up anki on iPad (eg adding new cards and reviewing old ones). I have not touched ankiweb since setting up anki on my ipad.

Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

iOS only supports mp3 iirc, so that might be the issue here. Searching for anki mp3 converter I can find some scripts, but I can’t vouch for those.

Should we take that to mean that you weren’t regularly syncing your device during the time since then?

I think the first question is – how do you know that you had this file on AnkiWeb back then? The media sync was completed, but that only means all of the media on AnkiWeb had made its way over. If this file was missing already, then it wouldn’t have been included in the sync.

Do you still have this file on AnkiWeb in the account you’ve been syncing with? Or on another device where you’ve been using Anki?
