Hello, I also have a similar of syncing my media on ankidroid. I deleted my Ankidroid app but before I deleted it I’ve restored all my cards in my Ankiweb account, but when I installed the app again and login my Ankiweb account on Ankidroid the pictures and the audio are gone. I cannot view the pictures and the audios. Please help me. Thank you in advance.
I moved you to your own thread. If you have an issue with your AnkiWeb account, it’s unique to you.
First, consider that your media might not have downloaded yet – Media files may take time to sync - Anki FAQs .
If you really think there’s an issue with your AnkiWeb account – I’ll need to know what that is. There’s no AnkiWeb account associated with the email you used to post here. You should add the email address you use for AnkiWeb to your account here in this forum as a secondary/alternate address. Then I’ll be able to take a look.
It also might help if you explain what you mean by “restored” here.
I have now added my email address as a alternate address that is associated with my Ankiweb account. And this what I mean by “restored”, I keep my collection before I deleted the app. And I tried to login my Ankiweb account in Ankidroid on a different device and still the same, can’t view the pictures and play the audio.
This the screenshots of the issue. I have a screen record but can’t attach because of the new user policy.
[I removed your post with your email address, since it wasn’t necessary, and I didn’t think you wanted it published on the internet.]
I can now see your AnkiWeb account, and it has 265MB of media. But none of the files mentioned in your screenshots exist on the server – and there haven’t been any media files deleted from your account in the past month.
- Was that the first time you had synced with AnkiWeb? Did you only sync that one time (or only a few times)?
If that’s the case, it’s possible you had other media in your local collection that never finished uploading to AnkiWeb. Similarly to the FAQ I posted above, you need to allow enough time/enough syncs for all of your media to reach AnkiWeb. If you deleted your collection before that, AnkiWeb doesn’t have that media.
-
Have you run a media check on your device –
3-dots menu > Check > Check Media? -
Have you used Anki/AnkiDroid/AnkiMobile on any other devices where that media might still be preserved?
-
Did any of the media come from shared decks that you imported?
Thanks your that.
1. No, I did sync often.
2. Yes.
3. Yes, I have, but it’s still the same problem. I tried to login my Ankiweb account in Ankidroid on other device but still the same problem.
4. No.
Here’s the screenshots some of my missing files.
Then another possibility is that you had media syncing disabled on your device. I checked for files with names like those shown in your list and none of those are there either.
My question wasn’t about syncing another device now – it was about any other devices you’d used before, where you might have an intact version of your collection that you hadn’t deleted. That seems your best bet to recover this media, since it was never synced to AnkiWeb.
- Another thing you can check is whether some of the 7K+ “Unused” files on your device have similar names to the “Missing” files – just in case it’s a filename issue. [If you find those files are genuinely not needed though, you can “Delete Unused” to clean them up.]
