Hello Anki forums.
today I was running my flashcards as usual. for the past couple of days my edit button (the one that you can edit the cards with while revewing) stopped working. I tried to close the app and to reopen it. nothing. then I restarted the computer, and now the anki app doesnt open at all. I ran the open command on the command promp and got this:
ImportError: DLL load failed while importing pythoncom: The specified
I dont know how to code at all and I have several decks that I worked on for a long time, so I really dont want to delete the app and reinstall it again. the origin of the error might be that I got a notfication to update the app to a newer version, but the installmet program didnt do it because I allready had an anki on my computer.
Thanks in advance for any help

You seem to be using MS windows. I use linux, but if anki on windows works the same as anki on linux, then removing and reinstalling anki won’t have an effect on your data at all (the data directory won’t be removed).
In that case you might be missing important files (and some old files like libs might be still there). I’d highly recommend you to sync your progress if you do have an account and to copy your data folder to a save place, just in case. Then completly remove anki and reinstall the latest version. Your data folder should still be there. If not, recover from the copy you just made.
It does work the same. The app and your collection are stored separately. Managing Files - Anki Manual

Removing and reinstalling solved the problem! and the deck stayed intact.
