Hello everyone, I have a quick question: is it possible to change the FSRS retention for one specific deck? I just want to review more the cards of a specific deck withouth modifying the retention of other decks. Thanks
If you’re talking about desired retention, sure. FSRS params are on a per-preset basis. If that specific deck has its own preset, you can tune that preset to whatever you’d like
Bit of a warning though, experiment with the simulator or fsrs visualiser before making changes, as you might be caught off-guard by the workload. Also, lowering retention below the computed minimum recommended retention is… not recommended as the name suggests.
But how can I change the desired retention of a specific deck? Because I had tried but the retentions of of all of my others decks changed along with the one i actually wanted to change.
I have an exam in 2 weeks, so i would like to increase the retentions at its max.

Are they all on the same preset? If so, you can clone it, set it such that only your target deck is using it, and then change the desired retention in that preset
Sorry, what do u mean by preset? I have created a general deck named “medicine” containing 4 differents decks, one of which is the one whose retantion i want to change.
Are you recommending me to clone the deck and then change the retention in the cloned deck?
I managed to do what I had to but no clone was created after pressing the button “clone preset”. Is this normal? Did I do It right?
After you clicked Clone Preset, did you get a box to name the new preset?
What did you name it? Do you see that in the drop-down at the top? If it’s selected (and you’re in the options for the correct deck), does it say it’s used by 1 deck?
Is this a standalone deck, or a parent-deck with subdecks?
I did all correctly all the things u mentioned, I named it “default”, and this is a subdeck of a parent-deck
[That’s probably not the best name, since the actual default set of options in Anki is already named Default – and especially since you’re only using this preset for one specific deck.]
Okay – if you go into Options from that deck, and it has that name at the top as the name of the preset, and it says “used by 1 deck” – then that is the new preset that you created.
You should Optimize the parameters here. And you should go back to the decks list to select one of the decks still in the old preset, go into that options preset, and re-optimize that one too.
