Hello,
I updated my MacBook recently MacOS 26 and I had Anki decks that I recently created that I had access to and after the update. I have been unable to retrieve those new decks/cards. However, after I synced, I was able to see decks/cards from 2023-2024 but not my most recents ones from March-April 2026.
Is there a way, I can get assistance with getting those lost decks/cards back?
Anki 26.05 (e64c6b1a)
Python 3.13.11 Qt 6.11.0 PyQt 6.11.0
Platform: macOS-26.5.1-arm64-arm-64bit-Mach-O
Thanks,
Maggie Telusma
There’s a few possibilities –
Updating your OS, on the same device you’ve already been using, shouldn’t change anything about your collection. It shouldn’t have changed anything about your Anki install either, so did you reinstall Anki? It’s possible your app is pointing at the wrong file location. Or is this a different device that never had Anki installed before?
That sounds like you set up syncing with an old AnkiWeb account, not the one you’ve been using most recently. I can see the AnkiWeb account connected to the email address you used to post here. But it was created today, and most recently synced with desktop Anki (a rather old version), but on Windows.
Is that the account you synced with on your Mac – Preferences > Syncing? Do you have another AnkiWeb account?
