Anki 2.1.62 for Mac Apple Silicon Suddenly (very) Buggy

Starting today Anki 2.1.61 was extremely buggy. I updated to 2.1.62 thinking it would fix the problem. It did not. I am running macOS 13.2.1 (22D68).

I wish I could provide more info, but I can’t even get the About Anki window to load.

Here’s the debug info:

Anki 2.1.62 (77dd1dc1) Python 3.9.15 Qt 6.5.0 PyQt 6.5.0
Platform: macOS-13.2.1-arm64-arm-64bit

The media sync log is trying to upload files, but I haven’t added any new media.
I understand if it needs to sync, but its doing it at a snails pace, despite the computer being connected by ethernet and nothing else happening on the network.

The main window goes gray randomly.

Sometimes the main window loads with all of the content centered.

The browser says I have 1900 notes but I actually have over 63000.

The browser refuses to close when clicking the red dot in the top left of the window.

All of this continues even when I launch while holding shift.

Tried restarting your computer?

I restarted before and after updating Anki.
I’m not sure what’s happening. The whole app seems slow.

I’ve downgraded to 2.1.56 and it seems to have fixed the issue.

What about the -qt5 version of .62?

What model Mac are you using? There seem to have been a number of M1 Macbook Air users reporting problems like this one.
