When making a large amount of flash cards its very easy to make mistakes on what the card type is. The issue is that when I want to change it on pc its a whole long process when the edit button is right there on the side of the screen. Why isn’t there a option to just change the card type right there? I don’t think that it would be hard.
Not sure what your process here is. But there is a short way of doing this, even though it isn’t as short as having a shortcut in the edit card screen:
- Copy the question of that card into your clipboard.
- Open the browser and search for the card.
- Right Click > Notes > Change Notetypes.
Of course, this can be even faster if you use keyboard shortcuts.
I find that I never use that Edit button in the review window.
Instead, you can just hit the shortcut key “b” to see the note in the Browse window, and then edit it there.
And because the note is selected in the Browse window, you can just use Notes > Change Note Type… from the Browse window menu, or the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+M.
However the main drawback with Change Note Type is that it triggers the need for a full database upload. That’s probably why the Edit window doesn’t offer that functionality, it’s not a simple casual change. So it’s best to take care to get the note type right at creation time.
Interestingly, changing the note type doesn’t show a warning on Anki Desktop.
Probably the same issue here:
