I’m always looking for ways to speed up my review time and I feel like this would be a nice feature. I use Anki to learn Japanese, and often I instantly review words upon reveal since I’ve already made up my mind on what I want to mark the card before I even see the back. Since 1-4 aren’t bound to anything on the front of cards, I hope it would be as simple as providing those shortcuts to the front, while keeping the enter key for showing the answer.
I believe there is an add-on that does that. Someone asked about this functionality within the past week-ish, and the add-on was suggested by another user. Unfortunately, while the existence of the add-on caught my eye, the name of the add-on didn’t – and I can’t say for certain if it was here in the Forums or on reddit r/Anki (or possibly on Discord?). So I am semi-pointlessly responding to let you know – I think if you search for this you’ll find it. 
I couldn’t find anything on my searches but I’ll try again. Perhaps someone else asking for it means it wouldn’t be such a bad idea on the main app …

Besides allowing you to rate cards directly from the question side, it also offers multiple additional features.
If you do not wish to use them, they can be easily disabled in the add-on’s configuration menu.
