Hi I need help with when I add a deck to Anki. I want the orginial MilesDown deck and the MilesDown Coffin deck as they organize the cards differently. But when I add the second deck it shows 0 cards because it skips them during the import process due to duplicate cards. How do you allow duplicate cards to be added without skipping them or interfering with other decks? Thank you!
That should allow you to import the second deck.
However, @Eltaurus did not say: turn them back on afterwards. The default values for those settings are the options you need in 99% of cases. Otherwise, you will not be able to update those decks.
Hi when I try that it still shows 0 cards in the second deck I add and that the cards are still being skipped
Generally, you won’t want to have duplicates of your cards, because you don’t want to split your review history between them. Neither will be scheduled correctly.
Are you just trying to get a look at these 2 organizational systems to see which one you like better? I would use a separate (temporary) profile for that – Profiles - Anki Manual .
However, if you think there’s some value to having both decks available to you going forward – even if you will only be studying one of them – the easiest thing is to make the 2nd set of notes incompatible to be merged with the first set. Try anything that this page says you shouldn’t do if you want to update your notes – Packaged Decks - Anki Manual .
