This page is a support thread for TidyAnkiBear(Anki addon). I uploaded it to AnkiWeb because it was requested by a user of MedicalSchoolAnki on reddit sub.

This add-on is for tidying and hiding menu bar items. If you have a lot of add-ons, this is useful.
- All hided items will be in the âTidyâ menu.
- Optional features are prototypes so they are not completely developed yet.(hideTidy, PutIntoSystemTray, PutIntoTools)
- If you encounter problems, press and hold the Shift key to start Anki, then toggle off add-on.
- Basically, âTidyâ cannot be hidden. (If you do this, you will not be able to access settings, and shortcut keys will not work.)
- On Linux and Windows, the Tidy bear icon is displayed (I drew it). On Mac it is not shown and is text (Tidy). If you use the system tray option, the icon is shown, but this feature is still under development.
I develop game add-ons for Anki, simple fixes and customs for broken add-ons for the latest Anki(I am not related to the official Anki). I like your that ideas so thatâs in my task list. AnkiWebâs broken add-ons are generally left for 2 years or more, so you are super luckyđ(For example, LeechToolkit was fixed by me after being broken for over a year.)

Basically, the add-ons I develop quickly are features I use in learning Anki.
For example, LeechTool kit and MoreFlags I also want to use in learning, so I repaired or searched for them. Other broken add-ons are also repaired because I want to use them, they are useful.
However, I rarely use the advanced features you are requesting, because I donât have that many Leech cards. If I develop them too hard, my Anki learning will be delayed, so they are a conflict of interest with me.
Are they really that difficult to develop and how much time would you estimate for you to develop those? I donât know how one develops Python add-ons but I assume it is hours.
Regarding your Anki learning, why wouldnât it help you that much? I mean theoretically, if it works as intended, you should be able to set the threshold as high or low as you want .This is regarding the lapse review ratio add-on.
The other add-on (interchanging learning and relearning steps) would help you save a lot of time I believe by using two (or more) different sets of learning steps I believe. Your today again count add-on already lifts some of the work off it. The only thing I am afraid of is how youâd be able to get Anki to automatically change the learning steps of the card without changing the preset. Iâd like to believe this is possible. This is the only hurdle I believe.
It goes like thisâ> If lapse count or again count (from todays again count addon) is > e.g. 5 change the learning-relearning steps to 10m 20m 50m 2h
If <5 then 10m 1h.
You will be cutting your learning time in half for the easier cards while pushing all the necessary extra steps for the harder ones.
If youâd at least develop this add-on it would be enormous.

Sure, try asking a professional programmer to do the same job with the same content, maybe you will be charged about $1000+(Itâs not a joke). I am very humble, so I only charge maximum $5/month on Patreon. If you wait leisurely it will be totally Freeđ

Because I donât have that many Leech cards, simply put I am not hungry. This is probably because you and I have different review methods.

I am a private hobbyist developer, not related to official Anki, so contributing to the community was not my motivation.

Never, my Patreon exists to support my creative artwork, not to commission me to do exploitative work for $5. (Patrons can cheer and support me, but they cannot ask me to do personal work for them.)
So I wonât do the work if you become a patron (Iâve obviously done more than $5 work for youđ, Congratulations!I have finished this development for now), but it does raise my development priorities a bit.
You are quite enthusiastic about this issue(I fully understand about that), but you are not my patron, therefore I recognize that for now your concerns are less important than a $5 cheeseburger at McDonaldâs. (Well, all worries are like that, talk to the wallet and the values will change.)

I didnt mean to offend you if you got offended. I was just asking since some developers publish more addons on their patreon.

Thank you, if you have any ideas, new features, or repairs, feel free to request them from me, if you want fast or exactly what you demand, please ask professional developers to do the work for you.
I donât have deadlines because I am just a volunteer work, and I donât care if it is accurate to your request because I create it selfishly.

IMO, perhaps you are better suited to programming your own code. For example, you have explained your theory quite a lot logically, if you put it into programming code it will work as is, thus no need to explain it. Anki mainly uses Python, which is the easiest language in the world to learn, so consider it if you are interested.

I think this is a great idea. But I barely have time as it is. I study approx. 14-15 hours daily, barely getting any sleep, and borderline suicidalâŠI look to these ideas as pressure relief and will latch onto them like a chimpanzee ape. But I know this isnât your problem since I am just a random guy on the internet

Thatâs good, those are the best qualities for programming.
If you are an engineer and a customer offered you a job, I bet you could solve most of the bugs in a few days.

I tried to restart Anki holding the shift key but the problem did not work (I will try directly to delete the addon in the file and reinstall it)

If you start Anki while holding down the Shift key, it will start with all add-ons toggled off.
(In short, vanilla Anki starts up.)
But your screen still has Add-ons enabled, so something seems to have failed.
