Hello,
I’m experiencing a bug in Anki (version 25.09.2, OS: Windows 11) when adding cards. When I press the clip icon to add pictures, the app freezes for a second then closes completely.
I have already tried restarting anki while holding shift, but the problem persists. I can paste images though without any problems. The only addon I have downloaded is the Review Heatmap.
The crash happens every time and no error message is shown.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.
Probably related to [Windows] Anki crash when clicking import / export. Everything that needs to open the windows file chooser dialog causes a crash.

Hey again, I ran into a similar problem with another app. Opening the file picker would immediately cause the app to crash. Fortunately, I was able to fix it.
I had a system restore point from before the issue started, so I used that, and now everything is working perfectly.
Can you tell us what version of Windows was causing the issue for your, and what version you restored to?
I’m currently on Windows 11 Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7623).
The issue was resolved by restoring to an automatic system restore point from 4 days earlier, after which the file picker no longer caused crashes.
Before the restore, Anki and another app called LocalSend would crash immediately when opening the file picker, while Notepad and Paint worked fine..
By the way, I managed to accidentally reproduce the problem. Discord wasn’t starting, so I reinstalled it. After that, Anki’s Import/Export started crashing again. Restoring the system once more fixed the issue.
