What happens in a manually scheduled database?

I noticed that sometimes the date in the revlog does not match the date in the cards table.
When I do manual scheduling with no “!” what happens is that the original target date is saved in the revlog and only in cards does it change?

Existing revlog entries are never changed. When you reschedule a card without !, its due date is moved, but its interval is not changed.
