.webp files can't be found in library

Hi,

I received a deck from a friend containing .webp files, which I couldn’t view (neither on my mac, android app nor on Ankiweb). On my mac I tried deleting the deck, deleting the unused media and redownloading the deck - it still didn’t work and I would see a broken image on all clients.

The name in the HTML code matched exactly to the one in my library (collection.media). I couldn’t open any files outside of anki, as it said it could be damaged or in the wrong format.

Then, I deleted the deck, deleted unused media, closed and updated anki to the latest version, opened the app without addons and downloaded the deck again. Now I can see some images, but others not. When I try to find these broken images in the library, they are simply not there! I can’t find them at all.

Does anyone have a clue what is doing on here?

Thank you :))

Does that deck include all the media files? If not, then anki cannot import them and you won’t be able to see the media in your cards.

Do you still have those files in the trash bin? If yes, then you could restore them and do a few tests for me. I don’t know what OS you’re using, but on linux I’d use file my_picture.webp to get the file type (well, linux generally opens the files fine anyway, even if the extension would be wrong).

Also: Where did you get that media from in the first place? Were they correctly imported by the same deck you where downloading and importing from?
