Running v2.1.49 gets a notification that there is an update v2.1.54.
I thought that v2.1.49 was the last Anki version that will work on Windows 7.
Can v2.1.54 run on Windows 7 or should the update-checker verify the OS to determine if the “latest version” is applicable before prompting to update.
Please advise only-IF v2.1.54 will run on Windows 7.
Thanks, Tracey
According to the 2.1.50 release notes .
Windows 10 or 11 is required. If you are still using Windows 7 or 8, 2.1.49 is
the last build that will install on your system.
Besides, maybe you should consider upgrading to Windows 10 or 11? Is there any particular reason you not doing so?

Windows 7 does everything I need at the present and upgrading to a new-ER version of the OS usually causes problems with my older-software.
Thanks anyway, Tracey
You’re accumulating technical debt (in the same terms, not being able to install the latest version of Anki is an increasingly high debt interest), but if that’s fine for you…
