Unable to find image source in note type "Image Occlusion"

Hello,
I would like to ask you help because I can’t find a viable/easy way to find the source image linked to an “Image Occlusion” note type.

With the previous “Image Occlusion Enhanced” I was able to see the field “image” and the right click → open image and voilà.

Now I’m using 25.01RC1 and while browsing a “Image Occlusion” note I’m able to modify right away the clozes but I’m not able to find easily the image (also, I’m not able to see the “image” field)…
All of this because I would like to convert an heavy image into a smaller one, to save some space.

Thank you!

To change the image you can press the button that I circled in the picture:

Thank for your reply.
But clicking there unfortunately doesn’t bring me any option to change the image… see this

And if I right click within the image only the paste option appears, nothing more…

I see. The only way I found the source is with the AnkiWebView Inspector addon:

  1. Right-click on the image.
  2. Press “Inspect”.
  3. In the window that pops up, click on “Sources”.
  4. You can see the image there with the same name that it has in collection.media/ folder.

But I don’t think you can change it from there. The image data is included in <img> but that string is very long and converted to base64.

I fed that base64 string into a random base64 to image converter site that I found on the internet (in my case Base64 to Image | Base64 Decode | Base64 Converter | Base64):

(I cannot paste the string here as it exceeds the allowed character limit on this site)

I only use image occlussion enhanced and it’s hard to believe that you truly cannot easily edit the picture in the build in image occlussion. Someone else here might know more and might be able to help you better.

For IO notes/cards, you can find the image name in the “Question” column (as long as you haven’t modified it). It’s not the most convenient – because you can’t copy it from there – but it’s reliable.

Thank you for your suggestion… it’s certainly a workaround! I guess I can make it work for now.

I hope in a future update will be included the possibility to simply right-click - open image to inspect and modify the occluded picture, similar to how it works the “image occlusion enhanced” note type.

As of 25.02rc1 is now possible to directly open the picture with a right click to modify it, and we can also view the file directly in the explorer folder!

Thanks a lot to @llama for opening the pr and to the whole Anki team that included the fixes so quickly! :gift_heart:
