Change Image Feature on Image Occlusion

Hello everyone,
for Image Occlusion would it be possible to implement the “Change Image” as present in the “Image Occlusion Enhanced” plugin?

Because this feature still seems to be missing, I want to post a working workaround I found, which works for me:

  1. install the Add-on Batch Editing, code: 291119185 & restart Anki
  2. open browser & select the IO note
  3. in the menu bar under “Edit”, select “Batch Edit” (a new entry introduced by the add-on)
  4. use attachment icon to select new picture (or, untested: paste image from clipboard)
  5. select “Image” for “in this field:”
  6. press “Replace”

And to prevent others from trying: replacing the image file in its “collection.media” directory did not work for me as Anki will restore the old image later (probably on next synchronization, based on some hashes in the database).

As far as I could tell the feature is still missing. That is why I am posting another workaround to replace the picture in Image Occlusion cards without add-ons.

Step 1: Copy the new image to the collection.media folder of the deck. Remember its filename

Step 2: Find the filename of the current picture

  1. Find the note or card in the browser
  2. Create a copy of the note
  3. Change the note type. Basic note type works well enough.
  4. Open the HTML editor of the field where the image is.
  5. Find and remember the image’s current filename.
  6. Cancel the copy creation.

Step 3: Replace using “find and replace”

  1. Select the note or card in the browser
  2. Open the find and replace dialog (Notes → ‘Find and Replace…’)
  3. Ensure ‘Selected notes only’ is checked
  4. Ensure ‘Treat input as regular expression’ is unchecked
  5. Enter the filename of the current image under Find:
  6. Enter the filename of the new image under ‘Replace with:’
  7. Select ‘Image’ for the ‘In:’ combobox
  8. Push the OK button.
