from the changelog:

  • The tags field in the editor now autocompletes from anywhere in a tag name, not only the start.

is there any way to reverse this change? It has made adding tags considerably more difficult & time-consuming. I can’t find anything in the settings to change this behavior.

I don’t think there’s a way to revert to the old behavior other than going back to an older Anki version.

Why do you find it more difficult / time-consuming? Could you explain it a little bit, then we might be able to adapt it in a coming version.

If I want to choose tag “Vocabulary”, I have 2 choices(both requires more click and typing than old way):

  1. type ‘v’, scroll to bottom, choose “Vocabulary”,
  2. type ‘vo’, choose “Vocabulary”

So, I suggest move re[^{search_string}] to the top of list, move other re[{search_string}] after re[^{search_string}].
