when I try to sync anki on desktop I keep getting timeout errors. I already tried to set the timeout duration to 180 seconds but it didn’t solve the issue.
I tried syncing on ankidroid and it works fine.

If your Anki desktop and AnkiDroid are connecting to the internet in different ways, that’s not surprising. Take a look at Syncing failed: Connection timed out errors when syncing - Anki FAQs .
