My Anki won’t sync across devices (Macbook pro, iPad, and iPhone). I keep getting the error “Your decks here and on AnkiWeb differ in such a way that they can’t be merged together, so it’s necessary to overwrite the decks on one side with the decks from the other.”
I tried using my hotspot but that did not change anything. All three devices are on the same wifi. I’ve clicked “upload to AnkiWeb” countless times. Now, my laptop Anki and AnkiWeb won’t sync. I’ve never had this problem before and I have been using Anki for a while (Version 2.1.66 (70506aeb)). I do not have any updates available. Please help!
You could certainly update from 2.1.66 if you want (since it came out over a year ago) – but that’s not necessarily what is holding you up here.
After you make an unmergeable change, you need to one-way sync. That will remain the case until all of your devices are back in sync. Since you chose “upload to AnkiWeb” from one device, you need to choose “download from AnkiWeb” on your other devices to receive that update.

Thank you so much, this worked! Will I have to do this each time I sync my Anki?

Normally no, only if there is a conflict.
