Sync Error After Updating Mac to Sonoma 14.8.1 (Anki 25.02)

Hi everyone,

I just updated my Mac to macOS Sonoma 14.8.1 and am running Anki version 25.02. Unfortunately, if I try to use newer versions of Anki, the app won’t even open on my computer, so I’ve been staying on 25.02.

Since updating macOS, I can no longer sync. I get this error message:

A network error occurred.
Error details: error sending request for url ( )

Things I’ve already tried:

  • Verified my internet connection (works fine, including on other apps)

  • Tried both home Wi‑Fi and a mobile hotspot

  • Restarted my computer multiple times

  • Made sure firewalls and VPNs are disabled

  • Uninstalled/reinstalled Anki

  • Removed all add‑ons

  • Confirmed I can log in to AnkiWeb without issues

Has anyone run into this before or know of a fix?

This looks like it’s resolved now and you’ve been able to upgrade to 25.09.
