Okay so,
I had an old laptop and i had anki installed on this old laptop. I would make my flashcards on this laptop. My laptop now does not allow me to log in because it like crashed?
But the laptop is like reallyyy old and it doesnt allow me to just log in normally (like just putting in my password) without me having to log into my old Microsoft account (…and i forgot my Microsoft account password) in order for me to then actually unlock the laptop as a whole and have access to my homepage and everything.
Cool. I use my grandma’s laptop and i TRY log into Anki
BUT i forgot the password to my Anki acc so i make a new password with the same email and i then log back into Anki but THENN… yeah. None of my flashcards turn up… ughhh like i used the same email and account all i did was change the password so why couldnt any of my flashcards turn up..?
THEN i brought a new laptop and installed Anki and logged into it…the new flashcards i made on my grandma’s laptop turned up but not the ORIGINAl cards i spent so LONG making turned up…
GUYSSS PLEASEEE HELPPP ANYHTHING!!! ik this issue seems dumb like i shot myself in the foot…BUT CMONN MOCKS IS IN LIKE 1 WEEK FOR MEEE I MADEEE SOOO MUCH REVSION MATERIALL MY HARDD WORKKK i dont want it to b gone to waste. Thanks.
It sounds like you ended up creating a completely new account? You can check your emails (all of them) if any of them have an associated AnkiWeb account (you can check if you have emails from ankiweb).
If you’re sure this is the account you were using before, another possibility is you didn’t use AnkiWeb for over 6 months which led to your data getting deleted from the server. See:
One more thing to ask is whether you regularly synced your old laptop’s content with AnkiWeb. Anki automatically syncs your data to AW so normally that shouldn’t be an issue unless you turned auto-syncs off.
FYI AnkiWeb keeps server side backups, so if you asked before someone here could’ve checked those backups for your old cards. It sounds like the data was lost (?) a long time ago though, so now your chances are lower.
The email address you used to post here has an AnkiWeb account associated with it. It was created in Dec 2024, and most recently synced in late-April 2025. But it doesn’t look like it was synced regularly other than that, and it is nearly empty.
I don’t think that’s the account you’re looking for, so keep looking for other email addresses it could be.
Oh jesusss
Thanks for the info tho
ughhhh yh im cooked
If you were syncing with a different account, you just need to figure out what email address you used. That’s where your data could be.
