Suggestion: Improve AnkiMobile’s Interface Design

The interface design of AnkiMobile feels somewhat outdated. Especially compared with other apps in the same price range, it’s clear that it hasn’t been designed by a professional designer.

In addition, users on other platforms enjoy the same features and online services as AnkiMobile users, yet AnkiMobile users have to pay significantly more. It would be reasonable to at least provide a better user experience in return.

AnkiMobile currently follows the native iOS style and uses system UI components. The most obvious inconsistency I notice is on the main deck screen — each deck name sits inside a white rounded rectangle, but those rectangles touch the left and right edges of the screen with no padding. This feels visually off. A good reference would be the iOS Settings app, where rounded white sections have comfortable spacing from the screen edges.

Another example is the card browser view. It currently shows three equal-width columns: the first field of the card, the template name, and the due date. In my opinion, the first field contains the main information and should be given more space, while the template name column (which in my decks is usually just “Card 1”) adds little value but still takes up one third of the width — it might even be unnecessary to display at all, especially since AnkiMobile doesn’t provide card template editing (as far as I know).

That said, fixing these layout details would only make AnkiMobile more consistent with standard iOS design, not necessarily more delightful to use. To make it truly enjoyable, I think a more comprehensive redesign would be needed
