Studying only certain cards from downloaded deck

If I have downloaded a shared deck of, say, 100 cards, but I don’t want to study them all at once; I want to pick, say, five of the cards that go along with a lesson from another resource that I’m currently working on . How do I select those five for review and ignore the other 95, until I come back to them to select some more? Everything that I’ve tried isn’t working. If this question has been asked and answered before, please direct me to that post.

Edit to add: I am working both on a PC and on an Android phone.

Select the 95 you don’t want, and suspend them with – Cards > Toggle Suspend – Browsing - Anki Manual . None of them will be introduced in your study until you unsuspend them. That will sync and work on both platforms, but it’s probably easier to do on your PC.

If it’s more convenient to study those 5 integrated with your other cards, you can also them to your other study deck, or make this new deck a subdeck/sibling deck to your other study deck.

Okay, I’ve figured it out. The procedure is different from what Danika described above, but it works. Thanks.

I’m sure it would help the next user (not to mention me!) if you can explain where my instructions were wrong. :+1:t4:
